Is the 2nd hand samsung s8 still a good buy for its camera and curved screen?
The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a beautiful design with the curved infinity edge display. I want to buy it as a budget photography phone for my Instagram page. What is the current 2nd hand samsung s8 price in Nigeria for a clean UK used unit? I am very worried about the screen having pink burn in lines which is common with old Samsung OLED displays. How can I test the screen before paying the vendor?

3 days agoThe 2nd hand samsung s8 remains one of the most beautiful smartphones ever created. The sleek infinity edge design and the vibrant Super AMOLED display still look more premium than many mid range phones released this year. A clean UK used Samsung S8 currently costs between 65,000 and 85,000 Naira. For photography it is a fantastic budget buy. The 12MP rear camera captures incredibly sharp detailed photos with excellent dynamic range and performs surprisingly well in low light. The video recording is also highly stabilized making it great for creating crisp Instagram reels and business content. However the device is quite fragile; the curved glass screen shatters very easily upon impact and finding a replacement screen costs almost as much as buying the phone itself.

3 days agoYour fears about the screen burn in on the 2nd hand samsung s8 are highly justified. Because it uses an older generation OLED panel pixels degrade unevenly when static images are displayed for long periods. It is incredibly common to find used S8 units with ghost images of the WhatsApp keyboard or TikTok icons permanently burned into the screen radiating a pinkish hue. To test the screen before paying open the phone dialer app and dial *#0*#. This will open the secret Samsung diagnostic menu. Tap on Red Green and Blue to cycle through solid colors on the full screen. Examine the display closely; if you see any faint shadows text or pink discoloration on the solid color backgrounds the screen is burned. Negotiate a massive discount or walk away.

3 days agoI still use my Galaxy S8 for taking product pictures for my online store. The camera quality is better than my new 150k Infinix phone. Samsung camera software is just superior.

3 days agoThe battery life is the biggest weakness. The 3000mAh battery was small even when new. After years of degradation a used S8 will barely last 4 hours of heavy camera usage. You must carry a power bank.

3 days agoEnsure you buy the Snapdragon version (usually imported from the US) rather than the Exynos version. The Snapdragon processor runs much cooler and preserves the battery life better during heavy use.
