What is the standard fabrication and installation cost for a basic 3x3 sliding window in Nigeria?
I am currently roofing my 3 bedroom bungalow project and the next stage is fixing the windows. I plan to use standard aluminum sliding windows. Most of the rooms require the standard 3x3 sliding window size. Because the cost of aluminum profiles and glass has skyrocketed recently I need an accurate estimate. What is the current market price to fabricate and install a high quality 3x3 sliding window with tinted glass and a mosquito net? Does the color of the aluminum frame (like bronze or black) significantly change the final price compared to the basic silver frame?

3 days agoThe cost of a 3x3 sliding window (which measures 3 feet by 3 feet) fluctuates heavily based on the thickness and brand of the aluminum profile used. Tower Aluminum is generally the gold standard in Nigeria for durability. For a standard 3x3 window using high quality profiles 5mm tinted glass and a durable mosquito net you should budget between 35,000 and 50,000 Naira per unit including fabrication and installation labor. If a fabricator quotes you 20,000 Naira they are using the extremely thin inferior aluminum profiles that bend easily with bare hands and thin fragile glass. Do not cut costs on windows; cheap aluminum will derail constantly making the windows impossible to slide and exposing your home to burglary.

3 days agoTo address your question regarding the color of the 3x3 sliding window: Yes the color treatment of the aluminum profile absolutely changes the final price. The basic silver (anodized) aluminum is the cheapest because it is the standard factory finish. If you choose the bronze black or white powder coated finishes the price per window will increase by about 15 to 20 percent. Powder coating is highly recommended for residential bungalows because it provides a much more premium modern aesthetic and the coating protects the metal from oxidation and pitting over the years. When hiring an installer insist they use high quality rubber glazing gaskets (not cheap silicone sealant alone) to hold the glass firmly in the frame otherwise your windows will rattle loudly during heavy windstorms.

3 days agoI just finished my bungalow in Mowe. I used the black powder coated Tower aluminum profiles for my 3x3 windows. It cost me 45,000 Naira each. It looks incredibly premium compared to the cheap silver ones.

3 days agoMake sure you inspect the rollers at the bottom of the sliding panels before they install it. Cheap plastic rollers will break in two months. Tell the fabricator to use heavy duty brass or metal rollers.
