How good is the battery life and network stability of the 4g mifi zte mf927u router?

I need a reliable portable internet router for my remote work because my phone battery dies too fast when used as a hotspot. The 4g mifi zte mf927u is very popular and currently sold by multiple network providers like MTN and Airtel in Nigeria. Before I purchase it I want to know the realistic battery life under heavy usage like Zoom calls and Netflix streaming. Does the 4g mifi zte mf927u overheat when plugged in continuously? Also is it easy to unlock this specific ZTE model so I can switch between different network SIM cards if one network is down?

The 4g mifi zte mf927u is a very compact and capable budget router but you must manage your expectations regarding its battery life. It features a built in 2000mAh battery. Under light usage like checking emails or reading articles it will last about 5 to 6 hours. However under heavy continuous usage like hosting Zoom calls or streaming Netflix which requires the modem to constantly download and upload massive data packets the battery will drain completely in about 3.5 to 4 hours. Yes it does get noticeably warm when plugged in and actively transmitting data but it rarely overheats to the point of shutting down unless you leave it sitting under direct sunlight on a dashboard.

Regarding network stability and unlocking the 4g mifi zte mf927u: The network reception is excellent because it supports all major 4G LTE bands used in Nigeria (Band 3 7 20 28). If you buy it branded from MTN or Airtel it is heavily software locked to their specific network to subsidize the price. Unlocking this specific ZTE model is possible but it is not a simple DIY process you can do at home. You will need to take it to a software technician in Computer Village. They use specialized software tools like DC-Unlocker to flash the firmware and remove the network restriction allowing you to insert any SIM card. The unlocking service usually costs between 2,000 and 4,000 Naira.

I use the MTN branded version of this ZTE MiFi. The network speed is fantastic but the battery is a joke. I basically keep it plugged into my laptop USB port or a power bank all day while working remotely.

Do not leave the MiFi plugged into the wall charger 24/7! Because the battery is built in and non removable constant overcharging will cause the lithium battery to swell up like a balloon and pop the plastic casing open.

If you want to unlock it make sure the technician knows what they are doing. If they flash the wrong firmware version the router will "brick" meaning it will completely die and never turn on again.
