What is the current used dell e5540 price in Nigeria and is it good for learning programming?
I am a university student starting a course in Python and web development. I have a very limited budget and a vendor suggested the Dell Latitude E5540 (Core i5 4th Generation). What is the standard fairly used dell e5540 price today? Will the 4th gen processor be able to run Visual Studio Code and heavy web browsers smoothly?

3 days agoThe Dell Latitude E5540 is an absolute classic in the Nigerian fairly used market heavily favored by students and office workers for its indestructible build quality. The current used dell e5540 price in Nigeria ranges between 110,000 and 150,000 Naira. This price depends entirely on the specifications. For programming you absolutely want the version with an Intel Core i5 (4th generation) processor 8GB of RAM and ideally a 256GB SSD. If a vendor offers you a unit for 90,000 Naira it likely has only 4GB of RAM and an old mechanical HDD which will make your programming experience terribly slow and frustrating. The E5540 features a massive 15.6 inch screen and a full numeric keypad which is incredibly comfortable for typing long lines of code.

3 days agoTo answer your question about learning programming on the Dell E5540: Yes the 4th generation Core i5 is still surprisingly capable for entry level and mid level web development. It will run Visual Studio Code Sublime Text Chrome with 15 tabs open and local servers like XAMPP completely smoothly. Python scripts will execute without any major lag. However its limitations will show if you attempt heavy mobile app development. Running Android Studio along with an Android phone emulator requires massive processing power and RAM which will cause this older CPU to struggle and freeze. For web development (HTML CSS JavaScript Python) it is the perfect budget starter machine. Ensure you test the battery before buying as 10 year old batteries usually last barely an hour unplugged.

3 days agoI learned full stack web development on a Dell E5540 two years ago. Upgrading it to 8GB RAM and an SSD made it fly. It is a heavy laptop to carry to class but it never broke down once.

3 days agoMake sure you check the screen resolution. Some E5540 models come with a terrible 1366x768 resolution screen which makes text look blurry. Try to find the model with the 1920x1080 Full HD screen for better coding visibility.
