Is the duracell power block capable of running a home office setup during a power outage?

With the current fuel prices running a petrol generator all day for my remote work setup is draining my finances. I am considering buying a large portable power station and I saw the duracell power block online. Can this specific power station comfortably run a laptop an extra monitor and a Wi-Fi router for an 8 hour workday? How long does it take to recharge when NEPA restores power?

The duracell power block (often marketed as the Duracell Power Station) is an incredibly reliable solution for a remote work setup during power outages. To determine if it will last an 8 hour workday you must calculate your load versus the capacity of the specific model you buy. Assuming you buy the mid tier Duracell Powerblock 500 (which has a capacity of roughly 500 Watt hours). A standard modern laptop consumes about 40W an extra LED monitor consumes 20W and a Wi-Fi router consumes about 10W. Your total continuous load is 70 Watts. If you divide the 500Wh capacity by your 70W load the power station will theoretically run your entire office setup for over 7 hours continuously easily covering your workday.

Beyond capacity the duracell power block excels because it provides a Pure Sine Wave AC output. This is highly critical. Cheap inverters produce modified sine waves which can cause your laptop charger adapter to buzz loudly overheat and eventually fail. The pure sine wave ensures your sensitive electronics receive clean stable power identical to grid electricity. Regarding the recharge time: When NEPA restores power charging the unit from 0 to 100 percent using the included AC wall charger typically takes about 4 to 6 hours. It also supports pass through charging meaning you can keep your laptop plugged into the power block while the power block itself is charging from the wall ensuring zero interruption to your work.

I bought the Duracell 300W version for my mini office. It powers my Mac mini monitor and Starlink router flawlessly for 5 hours. It is completely silent and generates zero heat. Best investment for remote work in Nigeria.

It is very expensive upfront compared to a petrol generator but the peace of mind is priceless. You do not have to endure the noise fumes or the daily headache of queuing for fuel at filling stations.

Make sure you buy a foldable solar panel to go with it! The Duracell supports solar input. If the national grid collapses for two days you can just put the solar panel on your balcony and recharge the battery for free.
