Do the elitebook folio 9480m specs include a backlit keyboard and fingerprint scanner standard?
The silver aluminum body of the HP 9480m makes it look very premium. I am reviewing the elitebook folio 9480m specs online but I need confirmation from people who actually use it in Nigeria. Do all models come standard with the glowing backlit keyboard and the biometric fingerprint scanner for Windows Hello or were those optional features that I must specifically look out for when buying a used unit?

3 days agoThe HP elitebook folio 9480m specs were highly customizable when originally ordered by corporate clients. The glowing backlit keyboard was essentially the standard default for this premium tier. Almost every 9480m unit circulating in the Nigerian fairly used market features the backlit keyboard. It provides a beautiful white glow that shines through the silver keys making it incredibly easy to type in dark environments. However the biometric fingerprint scanner was an optional security upgrade. While the vast majority of units do have the small scanner located on the right side of the palm rest some base models were shipped with a blank plastic filler in that spot.

3 days agoWhen buying a used unit you must physically verify the condition of these features regardless of what the factory elitebook folio 9480m specs claim. Even if the laptop has the fingerprint scanner hardware it might not function. Many used corporate laptops have their biometric sensors permanently disabled or locked out in the BIOS by the previous company IT department for security reasons making it impossible to use with Windows Hello. Similarly test the backlit keyboard before paying. Press the Fn key and the F11 key to cycle through the brightness levels. Sometimes the delicate ribbon cable connecting the backlight to the motherboard gets damaged during refurbishment leaving you with a standard dark keyboard.

3 days agoMy 9480m has the fingerprint scanner but it is terrible. It uses the old swipe technology not the modern touch sensors like on phones. It fails to read my finger 50 percent of the time. I just disabled it and use a PIN.

3 days agoThe backlit keyboard on this laptop is one of the best I have ever used. The light is perfectly even and does not bleed out too much from under the keys. It makes the laptop look incredibly expensive at night.

3 days agoMake sure you check the bottom cover. If the rubber feet are missing the laptop slides around on the desk while typing. The silver aluminum also scratches very easily so look for deep dents before paying.
