What is the current fairly used market price for the hp 6450b probook in Computer Village?
I am looking for the absolute cheapest functional laptop I can buy just for typing Word documents and sending emails. The hp 6450b probook seems to fit this exact description perfectly. Because it is an extremely old model (featuring first generation Intel processors) I expect it to be practically given away. What is the standard price for an hp 6450b probook today in major tech markets? Are replacement batteries for this ancient model still available because the original battery is definitely completely dead by now?

Because of its extreme age it has depreciated to the absolute bottom of the pricing floor. In major tech markets like Computer Village Ikeja you can find a fully functional fairly used unit for between 45,000 and 65,000 Naira depending on cosmetic condition. At this price point it is the ultimate budget machine for someone who strictly needs to type documents manage basic Excel sheets and send emails. If you install a cheap 128GB SSD it will actually perform these basic office tasks surprisingly smoothly on Windows 10.

3 days agoYour concern about the battery for the hp 6450b probook is highly accurate. Any original battery that came with this laptop is completely dead and unable to hold a charge for more than five minutes. Fortunately because this was a massive global corporate model third party replacement batteries are still heavily manufactured in China and widely available in Nigeria. You can buy a brand new generic replacement battery for about 12,000 to 15,000 Naira. However do not expect modern battery life. The 1st generation processors were extremely power hungry. A brand new replacement battery will realistically only give you about 2 to 2.5 hours of unplugged usage. It is best used constantly plugged into a wall socket or a small generator.

3 days agoI bought one for my younger sister who is learning how to type. It cost me 50k. It is huge and heavy but the keyboard is fantastic. It is perfect for a beginner who does not need high processing speed.

3 days agoMake sure the Wi-Fi card works before you buy it. Some of these older models have faulty Wi-Fi modules that drop the connection randomly. Test it by connecting to your phone hotspot and watching a YouTube video for 10 minutes.

3 days agoIt is incredibly easy to maintain. The entire bottom panel slides off without any tools giving you instant access to clean the fan and upgrade the RAM. They do not build laptops this repair friendly anymore.
