Is the hp folio 9480m still a good ultrabook for writers and digital marketers today?
As a freelance writer and digital marketer I need a laptop that looks highly professional has a comfortable keyboard and is very light to carry. The hp folio 9480m is incredibly popular in Lagos tech hubs. Is the hp folio 9480m still a reliable daily driver for managing multiple WordPress tabs writing articles and attending Zoom calls or is it too old and slow for modern web browsing?

2 days agoThe hp folio 9480m holds a legendary status in Nigerian tech hubs for a reason. For a freelance writer and digital marketer it remains a highly reliable and exceptionally beautiful daily driver. The keyboard on this laptop is arguably one of the best HP ever produced. The keys are well spaced offer great tactile feedback and the white backlighting makes late night writing sessions a joy. The silver aluminum body looks incredibly professional when pitching to clients. Performance wise if the laptop is equipped with 8GB of RAM and a Solid State Drive (SSD) it will comfortably handle 20 Chrome tabs WordPress dashboards and Zoom calls without any frustrating lag.

2 days agoHowever you must be realistic about the limitations of the hp folio 9480m in 2024. This machine uses a 4th generation Intel processor which is now over a decade old. While it slices through text editing and web browsing effortlessly it will struggle heavily if your digital marketing work involves rendering heavy 4K video ads for Instagram or manipulating massive Photoshop files. The dual core processor will max out at 100 percent causing the fans to spin loudly. Another massive drawback is the screen. The standard 1366x768 resolution panel has terrible viewing angles and washed out colors making color sensitive graphic design impossible. If you stick strictly to writing and social media management it is a perfect budget machine.

2 days agoI am a copywriter and the Folio 9480m is my primary weapon. Upgrading to an SSD made it boot up in 8 seconds. It is incredibly lightweight so carrying it to cafes in Lagos never hurts my shoulders.

2 days agoDo not buy it if you need long battery life. Because the laptop is so thin the physical battery is small. Even with a brand new replacement battery you will only get about 3.5 hours of active web browsing. You must always carry your charger.

2 days agoThe aluminum body is beautiful but it scratches very easily if it rubs against a charger plug inside your bag. Buy a padded laptop sleeve immediately to protect the silver finish.
