What is the current used hp pavilion dv6 laptop price and is it good for gaming?
I am a student looking for an extremely cheap laptop that can handle older video games like GTA V and FIFA 19. A vendor suggested the HP Pavilion DV6 because it has dedicated AMD graphics. What is the realistic used hp pavilion dv6 laptop price today? I have heard terrifying stories about this specific model overheating and completely melting the motherboard. Is that true?

3 days agoThe HP Pavilion DV6 is an infamous relic in the Nigerian fairly used market. The current used hp pavilion dv6 laptop price is incredibly low usually ranging between 45,000 and 65,000 Naira. Vendors practically beg people to buy them. While the price and the promise of "dedicated AMD graphics" might sound tempting for a student wanting to play GTA V you must avoid this specific laptop model like a plague. The terrifying stories you heard are 100 percent true and scientifically documented. The DV6 series suffered from a catastrophic factory design flaw regarding thermal management. The cooling fan and copper heatsink inside were woefully inadequate to cool the incredibly hot AMD processors and graphics cards HP used during that era.

3 days agoIf you attempt to play GTA V or FIFA 19 on an hp pavilion dv6 the dedicated graphics card will immediately reach temperatures exceeding 95 degrees Celsius. Because the cooling system is defective the solder balls connecting the graphics chip to the motherboard will literally melt from the extreme heat. When you turn off the laptop and the solder cools down it cracks. The next time you turn the laptop on the screen will remain completely black while the lights blink. This is the infamous "Black Screen of Death" that plagued millions of DV6 laptops globally. Repairing it requires "reballing" the motherboard which costs 25,000 Naira and usually fails again after a month. Save your money and buy a newer laptop with integrated Intel HD graphics; it will run FIFA much better without melting.

3 days agoI had a DV6 in university. It got so incredibly hot while playing games that it literally melted the plastic casing on the bottom. It finally died with the black screen issue. Do not buy it.

3 days agoThe only good thing about the DV6 is the Beats Audio speakers. They sound amazing. But as a gaming laptop it is a ticking time bomb. The cooling fan sounds like a vacuum cleaner and it still overheats.

3 days agoIf you only have 60k buy a Dell Latitude E5420 or a Lenovo ThinkPad T420. They do not have dedicated graphics but they will not fry their own motherboards. You can play older games like Need for Speed on them perfectly fine.
