What is the real life cost of a basket of tomatoes osrs compared to actual Nigerian markets?
My friends and I were joking about gaming economies. In the video game Old School RuneScape buying a basket of tomatoes osrs costs basically nothing in gold coins. Meanwhile the inflation in real life Nigeria is terrifying right now. Exactly how much does a real full sized basket of fresh Jos tomatoes cost in the market today compared to previous years?

2 days agoComparing the gaming economy of a basket of tomatoes osrs (Old School RuneScape) to the brutal reality of Nigerian markets is a hilarious but painful illustration of inflation. In OSRS a basket of tomatoes is a very low tier farming item that costs maybe 30 to 50 gold pieces on the Grand Exchange. You can literally farm hundreds of them in the game in an hour. In stark contrast the real life Nigerian economy has made fresh tomatoes a luxury commodity during certain seasons. Due to massive fuel hikes affecting the transportation trucks traveling from the Northern farms down to Lagos the price of a real life massive basket of tomatoes hit an astronomical 100,000 Naira at its peak last year.

2 days agoThe disparity between digital economies and real world agriculture is fascinating. In the game the supply chain is perfect and teleportation is free. In Nigeria the supply chain involves terrible road infrastructure multiple illegal taxation checkpoints by touts and severe post harvest losses because we lack refrigerated transport trucks. By the time a truckload of tomatoes leaves Kano and arrives at Mile 12 market in Lagos almost 30 percent of the produce is crushed or rotten from the heat. This massive physical spoilage is factored into the final price the consumer pays. So while your OSRS character can throw a basket of tomatoes osrs at someone as a cheap joke doing that in real life Nigeria today would be considered a massive waste of precious wealth.

2 days agoThis question made me laugh so hard. I play OSRS and the inflation in Nigeria right now is worse than the inflation in the Grand Exchange. A real basket of tomatoes now costs more than my monthly internet subscription.

2 days agoIt is crazy how expensive food has become. Back in 2015 you could buy a massive basket for 5,000 Naira. Today you need a loan just to cook a proper pot of Sunday stew for a large family.

2 days agoAt least in RuneScape the tomatoes never spoil in your bank account. In real life if you buy that expensive basket and NEPA takes the light your tomatoes will rot in the fridge in three days. The stress is too much.
