Where can I buy the military grade camouflage shade net often called the boko haram net?

I am looking for a thick durable camouflage netting to provide shade over my car port and block out the intense sun. Market sellers locally refer to it as the boko haram net because of its desert military camouflage pattern. Where in Lagos can I buy original heavy duty rolls of this netting and how much does a standard roll cost?

The heavy duty camouflage shade net famously referred to in local markets as the boko haram net is one of the most effective and durable materials for creating outdoor shade in Nigeria. It earns its slang name because of the desert or woodland military camouflage patterns printed on the thick Oxford fabric. It is vastly superior to standard black agricultural shade nets because the camouflage fabric is reinforced with a tough nylon rope mesh backing. This rope mesh prevents the fabric from tearing when stretched tightly over a car port and helps it withstand severe Lagos windstorms without ripping to shreds. It provides roughly 70 to 80 percent UV blockage keeping your car significantly cooler underneath.

To purchase the authentic boko haram net you need to visit major building material markets or specialized tarpaulin vendors. The best places in Lagos are the massive tarpaulin and rope markets in Idumota (Lagos Island) or the building material sections in Trade Fair complex. A standard sized roll (usually measuring about 3 meters by 5 meters) currently costs between 25,000 and 40,000 Naira depending on the thickness of the fabric and the strength of the nylon backing. When installing it ensure your welder creates strong metal anchor points and use heavy duty zip ties or carabiners to stretch the net as tight as a drum. If it is left loose the wind will cause it to flap violently and it will eventually tear against the metal poles.

I used this exact net to cover my dog kennels. The shade it provides is fantastic and the military pattern actually looks very rugged and cool in the compound. Just make sure you buy the one with the thick rope backing.

Do not buy the cheap thin ones sold by traffic hawkers. Those ones will literally melt and disintegrate into dust after three months under the harsh Nigerian sun. Go to the main market and feel the thickness of the fabric yourself.

It is brilliant for car ports. Before I installed it my car steering wheel used to be too hot to touch in the afternoon. Now my car stays perfectly cool. The installation requires a good welder to build a strong frame first.
