Safety Tips
Stay safe while buying and selling on FexZoh
Your safety is our top priority. Whether you're buying or selling on FexZoh, following these guidelines will help ensure secure transactions and protect you from potential scams or fraudulent activities.
General Safety Principles
- Meet in public places: Always meet buyers or sellers in well-lit, public locations such as shopping malls, coffee shops, or police station parking lots.
- Bring a friend: Whenever possible, take someone with you when meeting a buyer or seller. There's safety in numbers.
- Trust your instincts: If something feels wrong about a deal or a person, walk away. No deal is worth compromising your safety.
- Keep personal information private: Don't share your home address, financial details, or other sensitive personal information until you're certain about the other party.
For Buyers
Inspect Before Paying
Always thoroughly inspect the item before making payment. Check for damages, test functionality, and ensure it matches the description in the ad. For electronics, meet at a service center if possible.
Secure Payment Methods
Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Use secure digital payment methods when possible. Never pay via wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or gift cards to someone you haven't met.
Verify Documentation
For vehicles, electronics, or property, ask for original receipts, certificates, or ownership documents. Verify IMEI numbers for phones and VIN numbers for vehicles.
Too Good to Be True
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Extremely low prices, urgent sales pressure, and sellers unwilling to meet in person are major red flags.
For Sellers
Counterfeit Money Awareness
Be vigilant about counterfeit currency. Count money carefully in front of the buyer, check for security features on bills, and consider using a counterfeit detection pen for large transactions.
Confirm Payment
For digital payments, verify that funds have been transferred and cleared in your account before handing over the item. Screenshots can be faked—check your actual bank balance.
No Home Meetings
Never invite strangers to your home for transactions. If the item is too large to transport, arrange to meet at a safe public location or consider using a delivery service with tracking.
Bill of Sale
For high-value items, create a simple bill of sale that includes both parties' details, item description, price, date, and "sold as is" clause. Both parties should sign and keep a copy.
Common Scams to Avoid
The Overpayment Scam
Buyer sends a check for more than the asking price and asks you to refund the difference. The check will bounce after you've sent the refund.
The "I'm Abroad" Excuse
Seller claims to be overseas and requests payment for shipping or customs fees upfront. Once paid, they disappear and the item never arrives.
Fake Payment Confirmations
Buyer shows fake emails or SMS claiming payment has been made. Always verify directly with your bank before releasing goods.
Phishing Links
Never click on links sent by buyers or sellers claiming to be "payment verification" or "delivery tracking" unless you recognize the URL.
